Fighter Jet Photos – Cleveland Airshow

Photography No Comments »

The air show starts tomorrow but to many in Cleveland today, it started at around 10am.  Here are some of the photos I managed to take from the roof of the parking garage.  What impresses me most (besides the planes) is that all I have is a relatively consumer-grade telephoto lens and at times I was at least a mile away from the planes, yet the pictures still came out fine.

Check out the photo gallery here.

Road Trip: Highlights

I’ve finished uploading pictures to the Road Trip gallery.  If you’d like to see just the ones I selected as the best of the best, you can view them in their own gallery.

Overall, it was a great experience.  The GPS was an excellent tool to help us get from place to place.  My DSLR performed flawlessly.  There was an ample number of WiFi hotspots.  There were fireworks.  Crazy people.  Cops.  Truckers.  Wildlife.

Hopefully my photos come close to doing justice.

Road Trip: Back in Cleveland

I came back from my road trip a little after midnight on Friday morning.  I am working feverishly, among getting ready for school, to process the photos I took.  You can check out what I have so far at http://photos.alexhutnik.com/v/roadtrip or you can wait for the “best of” album I will create and publish in its own post.

Finally! Pictures!

Road Trip: Days 4, 5, 6, and 7

I haven’t really been able to update my site much, but I wanted to give a few quick updates while I have internet access.

Like I said in my previous post, I went sailing on Thursday and took a bunch of photos.  I can’t really upload all of the photos I’ve taken because I haven’t been in one place long enough to do it.

Friday, Adam and I went to San Francisco and checked out Haight Street (Clevelanders, think Coventry but with less ESPN and more hemp bracelets.  In other words, it’s much more hippie).

Saturday (Day 5), we went back to San Francisco to look for the Digg headquarters, but I wasn’t sure if we found them since I didn’t see a sign outside.  Are they above The Guardian?   Anyway, after that we headed East and our Road Trip officially started.  We drove through Yosemite which was somewhat a bust.  Believe it or not, in the middle of nowhere you still have traffic jams.  After that we drove through Nevada, which was absolutely desolate.

Day 6 saw us get through the rest of Nevada and Wyoming and mostly through Colorado.  We crashed at Josh’s apartment and found some food.  At night, we drove up in to the mountains and set off of fireworks while taking long exposure pictures with my camera.  I need to get these pictures online ASAP.  They are pretty incredible.

Today (Day 7), we’re driving to Des Moines on our way to Minnesota to visit Zach.  That’s going to take most of the day, especially since we were supposed to be on the road about 40 minutes ago and we still haven’t repacked the car.

More news to come.  I will be processing all of my photos in the car in the next few minutes so that I can upload them the next time I have internet access.

Road Trip: Day 3

Hanging out at IBM again today.  Last night a group of us went to Santana Row (for Clevelanders think Legacy Village but a little more upscale) and hit a few clubs.  Not really my scene but it was pretty entertaining nonetheless.

Tonight, some of us are going sailing.  Should be a pretty good time.  I will be taking plenty of photos today since Adam got his tripod back.

I’ll write another post when I update the gallery.

No pictures yet today.  I’ve been hanging out at IBM’s Almaden Research Center all day, configuring my laptop for the trip, reading, and hanging out with the other IBM interns.  I will probably have more pictures when we all go out tonight.

Road Trip Adventures: Day 1

For the next week and a half, I’ll be flying to San Jose, California and then driving back here to Cleveland.  My flight leaves here at 3PM EST and I should be, after a short layover in Houston, in San Jose at 8PM PST.

I’ll be updating this blog as much as I can during the trip, publishing photos on the way.

Stay tuned.
